We recently celebrated five years of West Coast Electrical & Renewables. While it feels like those years have flown by, taking a moment to look back has made us realise just how much has changed since the beginning.
Like many businesses, we started small with a simple goal: provide quality electrical work, treat customers fairly, and build a reputation people could trust. Five years later, those values are still at the heart of everything we do, even though the business has grown far beyond what we first imagined.
How It All Started
West Coast began with just Scott and Luke carrying out electrical work across Blackpool, the Fylde Coast and the surrounding areas. Every job mattered, whether it was changing a light fitting, completing a full rewire or solving a fault that had been causing problems.
From the very beginning, we knew that our reputation would always be more important than simply getting through as many jobs as possible. Taking the time to do things properly, looking after customers’ homes and being honest with our advice quickly helped us build relationships with customers who continue to support us today.
Many of our first customers still contact us now, and that means a great deal to everyone in the team.
As the business continued to grow, we also found ourselves outgrowing our workspace. Over the last five years we’ve moved offices a couple of times, with each move marking another milestone in our journey. Every new office has represented more than just extra space. It has been a reminder of how far we’ve come and a proud moment for everyone involved. Today, we’re settled in our current premises, which gives us the room we need to continue growing and supporting both our team and our customers.
Growing Into Renewable Energy
As the industry changed, so did we.
We saw the growing demand for renewable technologies and decided to invest in training, equipment and accreditations so we could offer customers complete energy solutions alongside our electrical services.
Today, renewable energy is a huge part of what we do. We install solar panels, battery storage systems, EV chargers and air source heat pumps, helping homeowners and businesses make informed decisions about their energy.
Although we’ve expanded into new technologies, our approach has remained exactly the same. We focus on quality products, professional installations and looking after every customer from the first enquiry through to completion and aftercare.
From Two People to a Fantastic Team
One of the biggest changes over the last five years has been our team.
What started with just Scott and Luke has grown into a business with electricians, renewable installers, roofers, labourers and office staff, along with five vans on the road serving customers across Lancashire.
Every member of the team plays an important role in delivering the standard of work we’re known for. As we’ve grown, we’ve continued to invest in training, new equipment and better systems to make sure we keep improving.
Seeing the business create opportunities for more people has been one of our proudest achievements.
Milestones We’re Proud Of
Over the past five years we’ve achieved far more than we ever expected.
Some of the milestones that stand out include:
- Expanding from electrical work into renewable energy.
- Growing to a team operating five company vans.
- Achieving industry accreditations including NICEIC, MCS, RECC and TrustMark.
- Becoming approved installers for leading renewable manufacturers.
- Securing government and council contracts.
- Completing hundreds of successful installations across Lancashire.
Each of these achievements has been possible because of the support we’ve received from our customers and the dedication of our team.
One Brand, One Vision
One of the biggest changes over the last five years was bringing everything together under one name. As our renewable side of the business continued to grow, it became clear that our branding needed to reflect who we had become.
That’s when West Coast Electrical became West Coast Electrical & Renewables.
When redesigning our logo, we didn’t want to lose the identity that customers already knew and trusted. Instead, we combined the best of both brands, keeping our recognisable renewable energy emblem while incorporating the colours and identity of our electrical division. The result was a refreshed brand that represents everything we do today, while still feeling familiar to the customers who have supported us from the beginning.
Bringing everything together under one roof has made it easier for customers to see the full range of services we offer, from electrical installations and testing through to solar panels, battery storage, EV chargers and air source heat pumps. More importantly, it reflects the direction we’re continuing to take as a business and our commitment to providing complete electrical and renewable energy solutions.
Our Reputation Means Everything
If there’s one thing we’re most proud of, it isn’t the number of vans we have or the services we now offer.
It’s the reputation we’ve built.
We know that inviting tradespeople into your home or business is based on trust. That’s why we work hard to make every customer feel looked after from the very first phone call through to the final handover.
Many of our new customers come to us through recommendations from previous customers, and we never take that for granted. It reminds us that doing a good job today helps build the business for tomorrow.
Looking Ahead
Five years feels like a significant milestone, but we believe it’s only the beginning.
We’re continuing to grow our electrical and renewable divisions, investing in new technology, expanding our team and taking on exciting new projects throughout Lancashire.
As the industry continues to evolve, we’ll keep learning, adapting and making sure we offer our customers the best solutions available while maintaining the same values that helped us get here in the first place.
